“Home is where the business is.”
Imperial Homes Corporation makes eco homes a reality.
Ecologically-conscious homes have hefty price tags. More so in the Philippines, where wage disparity is still a volatile issue. Enter Imperial Homes Corporation (IHC), and its offer of affordable solar-powered homes, complete with a hundred-year material life span. Back in 2015 when Imperial Homes Corporation first started selling solar homes for the low-income market, people couldn’t believe their eyes. After a while, though, word got around and sales of IHC homes have been increasing since.
IHC was established 1983 in Legazpi City, Albay. The company develops, sells, exchanges and leases real estate property. So far, they have delivered more than 20,000 lots and housing units in Bicol, Calabarzon and Central Luzon. This fast-growing company is looking to secure more capital for their aggressive expansion plans for the next five to ten years.
IHC’s unique selling proposition is green technology incorporated into affordable housing. In March 2015, they joint-ventured with Enfinity Global to form Enfinity Imperial Solar Solutions, Inc (EISSI), to provide solar solutions for residential, commercial and industrial communities. They also entered into an exclusive production licensing agreement with Connovate ApS, Denmark for ultra-high performance concrete (UHPC). The result? Affordable solar-powered and mold-free homes that last a hundred years. After the initial public apprehension, IHC now receives tens of thousands of enquiries every month from prospective homebuyers.
IHC’s vision is to be the leader in innovative real estate projects, for the affordable housing and leisure segments, providing Filipinos with affordable, quality homes and communities that are in harmony with mother nature. Their mission? To guarantee personal and professional growth of their employees, to be a leader in innovative housing concepts in order to ensure long-term relationships with their business partners based on mutual trust and shared goals. Also, the company promises consistent growth and optimal returns to their owners, as well as the responsibility to seek out and use state-of-the-art concepts in real estate development, while being committed to protect the environment.
IHC has always listened to its customers and their needs. The Philippines has always been the country with the highest electricity tariff in Southeast Asia, and so IHC saw solar energy as a necessary component of their projects. IHC’s homebuyers have enjoyed savings on their electricity bills ranging from 24 to 40 percent. These savings have been used by the home buyers to set up businesses like catering services, candy stores and tailor shops.
IHC has also built resilient products to counter the Philippines’ many natural calamities, with their Connovate building panels constructed to be more durable, sustainable, mold-free, earthquake -resistant and fire-resistant.
The company now wants to expand into mass housing communities with solar solutions and high-strength houses. Every eco-friendly home will have lithium batteries to prevent power outages, and will be built with Connovate’s ultra-high performance Concrete building technology, which make the buildings mold-free, yet use 85 percent less cement. The homes will have award-winning designs (the Excellence in Design for Greater Efficiencies, “EDGE” certification) by the International Finance Corporation. Also, loans will be provided by the Pag-Ibig Fund and private banks for homes with solar solutions. The Pag-Ibig Fund is the Philippines’ government’s largest housing fund approved for the funding of solar solutions.
While EISSI was initially formed to provide solar solutions for IHC only, it now is targeting other developers to integrate solar solutions into their residential buildings. Also, IHC is looking into implementing the Internet of Things (IoT) into their projects so that their homebuyers can be aware of their electricity consumption, and can proactively manage their electricity usage.
“Each solar-powered home built by IHC reduces CO2 emissions by approximately 45 tons, compared to a conventional house. The corporation’s stress on products that help mitigate climate change, and reduce environmental waste by consuming less in its operations, is just one of the reasons it deserves our highest commendation”.
