Entrepreneur Dato’ Sri Liew Kok Leong is the Executive Director of ARB Berhad, a Malaysian Information Technology (IT) company specializing in Cloud-customized Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software and Internet of Things (IoT).

Dato’ Sri Liew, who holds a Bachelor of Science (Distinction) in Electronic & Electrical Engineering from the Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen, United Kingdom, and a Master of Science in Communication Systems from the University of Wales, Swansea, United Kingdom, has more than 20 years of experience in IT, manufacturing, telecommunication, property development and venture capital investment, having established a number of companies and subsidiaries in Malaysia, Singapore and China.

Dato’ Sri Liew believes that as an entrepreneur there has to be a balance between profitability and social responsibility to the community. Thus, ARB advocates education, healthcare and community enrichment in its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).

In addition, Dato’ Sri Liew envisages that “effective leadership and effective communication are key success factors. A good leader needs to be able to communicate in a variety of ways, from transmitting information to coaching people”.

Consequently, Dato’ Sri Liew concludes that one of the fundamental keys to building a successful business is to develop and retain human capital. As such, ARB provides and sponsors training programs to employees in order to give them opportunities to continually update their skills and explore new technology and methodology.

Furthermore, ARB takes an active interest in nurturing talent and developing future leaders through coaching and formal trainings. “I believe that with the right team members and mindset, we will be able to achieve our vision of ARB as the greatest IT company in Malaysia.”

ARB, whose clients include JV partners, Government-linked companies and end users, has also ventured into business partnership agreements with CHINA UNICOM OPERATION to undertake smart building projects in Malaysia.

ARB also collaborates with BEIJING KUANGSHI TECHNOLOGY through its subsidiary ARBIOT SDN. BHD and explores business opportunities in the area of Artificial Intelligence (AI), facial recognition application and relevant algorithm technology in the Malaysian Internet of Things (IoT) Industry 4.0.

ARB is also in the midst of setting up an ARB Artificial Intelligence and Robotics Lab and ARB IoT Lab at Universiti Pertahanan Nasional Malaysia, and furnishing it with various IoT equipment for the benefit of students and non-students alike. ARB has also pledged to provide full scholarships for Postgraduate Research Program students on an annual basis.

“ Tech companies are quickly becoming economic drivers for up and coming economies such as Malaysia. While notably an industry with much employee fallout due to work pressures, it is heartening that ARB Berhad sees the importance of the humanity behind the technology, and works towards the betterment of its work force.
