A Culture of Continuous Learning

“At Microsoft, we have a learn-it-all culture,” Tram emphasizes when speaking about the company’s learning and development initiatives. She believes that success comes from a growth mindset and an ongoing commitment to learning.

Microsoft fosters a culture where employees are encouraged to be curious, challenge the status quo, and embrace uncertainty. This philosophy extends to the company’s structured learning programs, which begin on an employee’s first day and continue throughout their career. Using tools such as Microsoft Viva Learning and LinkedIn Learning, employees are provided with both technical and leadership development opportunities.

Best Company to Work For in Asia

For three consecutive years (2021–2023), Microsoft Vietnam has been recognized as one of the “Best Companies to Work for in Asia” by HR Asia, based on employee feedback. The company’s scores exceeded the regional average across all criteria, reflecting its strong workplace culture.

Employees appreciate Microsoft Vietnam’s commitment to diversity, openness in leadership, encouragement of healthy debate, and its impactful community initiatives. These elements contribute to a workplace where employees feel valued and empowered.

Leadership Through Uncertainty

Reflecting on the challenges of leading during the COVID-19 pandemic, Tram acknowledges the difficulties of navigating a rapidly changing environment. While Microsoft Vietnam’s daily operations remained stable, the company had to work around the clock to support customers with limited resources.

The pandemic tested her leadership, requiring her to make difficult decisions, communicate clearly, and adapt quickly. She credits flexibility, resilience, and optimism as key factors in keeping her team motivated and focused during this period.

“I learned how to lead with empathy, agility, and purpose,” Tram shares. “It reinforced the importance of maintaining a strong vision, staying calm under pressure, and seeking guidance from trusted colleagues.”

Her leadership during this period not only strengthened Microsoft Vietnam’s position but also reinforced her belief in the power of adaptability and teamwork in overcoming challenges.
