More about

TDM

TDM Berhad, established in 1965 and listed on Bursa Malaysia’s main market, operates primarily in the oil palm plantation and healthcare sectors. The company is guided by core values that emphasize good governance, innovation, teamwork, environmental responsibility, and a people-centric approach, all while adhering to Shariah compliance. Committed to sustainability, TDM aligns its operations with Malaysian and international sustainability standards, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations.

Commitment to Sustainable Palm Oil Production

TDM adheres to the principles set by the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO), ensuring responsible cultivation practices that minimize environmental impact. The company undergoes annual audits by BSI Services Malaysia, an authorized RSPO Certification Body, reaffirming the credibility of its certification. Since 2017, TDM has also been one of the first government-linked plantation companies to be certified under the Malaysian Sustainable Palm Oil (MSPO) standard. This certification reinforces its dedication to economic viability, environmental conservation, and social equity.

Global Recognition and Compliance

Since 2013, TDM’s estates and mills in Malaysia have maintained RSPO certification, aligning with global sustainability standards for nearly a decade. The company has also received recognition from the International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC EU), approved by the European Commission. This certification highlights TDM’s commitment to reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and adhering to strict legal sustainability requirements, further demonstrating its responsible business practices.

Commitment to High-Quality Healthcare Services

TDM extends its sustainability principles to the healthcare sector, ensuring the highest quality of medical services through an efficient and well-regulated supply chain. The company adheres strictly to Good Distribution Practices (GDP), a set of essential standards governed by the Ministry of Health. These practices ensure that pharmaceutical and medical products meet stringent quality benchmarks, reinforcing TDM’s role in safeguarding community health and well-being.

Advancements in Renewable Energy

TDM has taken significant strides in its sustainability initiatives by launching two biogas plants in 2022, the first of their kind in Terengganu. With an electricity generation capacity of 2 MW each, these plants contribute directly to the national grid, supporting Malaysia’s renewable energy goals. In addition to biogas energy, TDM has enhanced its energy efficiency efforts by transitioning from conventional lighting to energy-efficient LED lighting. This shift underscores the company’s commitment to integrating sustainable practices across all operational levels.

Greenhouse Gas Emission Reductions

A crucial aspect of TDM’s sustainability strategy is the continuous monitoring and reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. In 2022, the company achieved a significant 16.6% reduction in net GHG emissions compared to the previous year. This achievement reflects TDM’s dedication to minimizing its environmental footprint while ensuring the long-term sustainability of its operations.

Governance and Strategic Oversight in Sustainability

Sustainability is deeply embedded in TDM’s long-term growth strategy, with its Board of Directors ensuring that sustainability considerations are integrated into the company’s decision-making process. The company’s Sustainability Committee (SCoM) oversees the framework, strategy, targets, and policies related to sustainability, ensuring alignment with corporate goals. Supporting this initiative, the Sustainability Working Group (SWG), composed of representatives from the plantation, healthcare, and corporate sectors, actively implements and monitors sustainability initiatives. This structured governance approach ensures that TDM remains at the forefront of responsible business practices.

TDM Berhad’s commitment to sustainability is evident across its core business sectors, from sustainable palm oil production to renewable energy initiatives and high-quality healthcare services. Through global certifications, innovative energy solutions, and structured sustainability governance, the company continues to make significant strides in reducing its environmental impact. By embedding sustainability into its corporate strategy, TDM remains dedicated to responsible growth while contributing to a greener and healthier future for Malaysia and beyond.
