A Commitment to Excellence and Accessibility
Subang Jaya Medical Centre (SJMC), a multi-disciplinary tertiary hospital in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, has been at the forefront of specialized healthcare since 1985. As part of Asia OneHealthcare (A1Health), SJMC is recognized for its world-class medical services, holding both Joint Commission International (JCI) and Malaysian Society for Quality in Health (MSQH) accreditations. It is also the first hospital in the Asia-Pacific region to be designated as a Centre of Excellence for Oncology Services by the Australian Council on Healthcare Standards International (ACHSI).
Beyond clinical excellence, SJMC is deeply committed to community welfare, working to bridge healthcare accessibility gaps and improve public health outcomes. Through collaborations with government bodies, NGOs, and healthcare professionals, SJMC ensures that its outreach programs address critical medical needs while delivering measurable benefits to society.
Expanding Access to Life-Saving Surgery
The Global Surgery Initiative (GSI) is a flagship program that exemplifies SJMC’s commitment to community healthcare. In partnership with the Malaysian Society of Anaesthesiologists (MSA) and supported by the Ministry of Health, this initiative brings specialist surgical care to underserved hospitals in Sarawak. To date, SJMC’s medical teams have successfully performed over 50 complex surgeries, significantly improving patient outcomes in remote areas. The program will continue in 2025, with a focus on training local healthcare providers to ensure sustainable improvements in surgical care.

Championing Women’s Health
SJMC actively promotes preventive healthcare through initiatives like the “If Not Now, When? #endcervicalcancer” campaign. In collaboration with the ROSE Foundation, this program provides free, self-sampling HPV screening kits to underserved women in Selangor, making early cervical cancer detection more accessible. In 2023 alone, over 300 screening kits were distributed, valued at RM120,000, with follow-up care offered to those testing positive. This initiative not only raises awareness but also empowers women to take charge of their health.
Inspiring Future Healthcare Professionals
Recognizing the need to nurture the next generation of medical professionals, SJMC introduced Nurse Quest: A Journey into Healthcare in collaboration with Cahaya Sin Chew. This initiative offers secondary school students hands-on experience in nursing, covering essential skills like CPR, chest percussion, and defibrillation under the guidance of medical experts. More than 20 participants have expressed interest in pursuing healthcare careers, and SJMC supports their aspirations through scholarships covering tuition, accommodation, and monthly allowances, with guaranteed employment upon graduation.
Strengthening Community Engagement
SJMC’s community outreach extends to public health awareness programs, such as free health screenings during Subang Jaya’s Car Free Day and mammogram sponsorships during Pink October. These efforts ensure that quality healthcare remains accessible, particularly for underserved populations.
Through strategic collaborations and targeted initiatives, SJMC continues to drive meaningful change in the healthcare landscape. By integrating advanced medical expertise with community-centered programs, the hospital remains dedicated to improving lives and fostering long-term healthcare sustainability.
