Enhancing Marine Biodiversity Through the “Fish Home” Initiative
PTTEP’s dedication to environmental sustainability is exemplified by its “Fish Home” initiative, launched in 2017 in the Gulf of Thailand and Songkhla Lagoon. Addressing the degradation of marine biodiversity, this project installs artificial fish homes to create safe breeding grounds for marine species. By increasing aquatic populations and enhancing fishery yields, the initiative has improved the livelihoods of local fishing communities while preserving marine ecosystems.
The project is a collaborative effort involving local communities, the Department of Marine and Coastal Resources, and Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya. Since its inception, fish homes have been installed across nine districts in Songkhla and Nakhon Si Thammarat, engaging over 1,000 participants and benefitting 512,000 residents. Research conducted in 2020 revealed significant increases in crab, fish, and prawn yields, leading to a threefold rise in income for participating families.

The company has set ambitious targets to achieve net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, having already reduced its cumulative emissions by over 3.22 million tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent as of 2024.
