More about

Pos Malaysia

Pos Malaysia Berhad proves that even in a resource-intensive industry like logistics, meaningful change is not only possible but essential. As one of Southeast Asia’s most prominent postal and logistics providers, Pos Malaysia is redefining sustainability in an industry often associated with high emissions and waste. Through its bold initiatives in fleet electrification, waste management, and renewable energy adoption, the company is setting new standards for environmental responsibility while maintaining operational excellence.

A Roadmap to Net Zero

Transportation accounts for 22% of Malaysia’s total emissions, and as a key industry player, Pos Malaysia recognizes its role in this footprint. In 2020, the company’s operations accounted for 0.07% of Malaysia’s total emissions. Rather than seeing this as a small percentage, Pos Malaysia took it as a challenge to do better. Its roadmap to net zero outlines clear commitments, including a 30% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2025, a 50% recycling rate for operational waste, and ensuring that 80% of its products contain renewable or recycled materials.

Leading Fleet Electrification

A cornerstone of Pos Malaysia’s sustainability transformation is fleet electrification. The company aims to electrify 28% of its fleet by 2025 and achieve full electrification by 2030, making it the largest operator of electric vehicles (EVs) in Malaysia. This transition began with the deployment of 200 electric bikes (eBikes) and 143 electric vans (eVans) across 55 locations in Peninsular Malaysia. By reducing reliance on fossil fuels, Pos Malaysia is cutting emissions while showcasing the viability of EVs in large-scale logistics operations.

Fleet optimization further enhances efficiency. By leveraging telematics systems that monitor driver behavior, idle times, speed, and fuel consumption, the company is reducing emissions and improving road safety. Currently, 26% of Pos Malaysia’s fleet is equipped with telematics, marking a significant step toward data-driven, eco-friendly logistics.

Investing in Green Infrastructure

Beyond fleet improvements, Pos Malaysia is integrating renewable energy into its operations. Its Solar Project is a key initiative, with solar panels set to power major hubs, including a 2.2 MWp system at the National Mail Centre in Shah Alam. By harnessing solar energy, the company is reducing greenhouse gas emissions and lowering operational energy consumption, reinforcing its commitment to sustainable logistics.

A Circular Approach to Waste Management

Sustainability at Pos Malaysia extends beyond emissions reduction. The company has embraced a circular economy approach, focusing on waste reduction, recycling, and upcycling. The Trash-to-Cash initiative promotes recycling within operations and among customers, while eco-packaging solutions now incorporate 80% recycled content. Additionally, courier waste bins, food composters, and plastic recycling programs ensure responsible waste disposal across all touchpoints.

Innovative upcycling projects, such as transforming old uniforms into pouches and discontinued flyers into merchandise, further reinforce the company’s commitment to reducing landfill waste and maximizing resource use.

Cultivating a Sustainability-First Culture

Pos Malaysia understands that sustainability is not just about policies—it requires a cultural shift. Through awareness campaigns based on the 7R Concept—Rethink, Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Repurpose, and Rot—the company fosters an environmentally conscious mindset among employees and customers.

The Pos Care framework integrates corporate social responsibility into everyday operations, ensuring that sustainability is embedded in the company’s DNA. From logistics-focused CSR programs to collaborations with social enterprises that promote eco-conscious consumerism, Pos Malaysia is extending its environmental impact beyond its own operations.

Delivering a Greener Future

Living up to its promise of “delivering connections, improving lives,” Pos Malaysia is proving that large-scale logistics can embrace sustainability without compromising efficiency. By pioneering green practices and championing environmental stewardship, the company is leading the way toward a more sustainable future—one that prioritizes both business success and the well-being of the planet.
