More about

Poni Group

Established in February 2020 in Brunei, Poni Group Sdn Bhd is the brainchild of co-owners Mohd Tahsin Wong Abdullah and Anna Aziz. What began as Poni Dive Club in 2008, a small scuba diving club, has evolved into a multi-faceted business spanning marine services, adventure tourism, hospitality, and conservation. Today, Poni Group oversees an impressive portfolio, including Poni Divers, Poni Adventures, Poni Marine, Poni Tec, Poni Homestay, ASTARI, and its affiliated non-profit arm, Poni Foundation.

Poni’s journey from a recreational dive club to a dynamic group of businesses is a testament to its innovative business model and organic growth. Starting with Poni Divers in 2009, which quickly became a leader in recreational diving in Brunei and Bali, the brand expanded into marine engineering, offshore services, and watersports tourism. Along the way, Poni ventured into hospitality with its award-winning homestay accommodations and established itself as a go-to provider for outdoor corporate team-building events and eco-tours.

Expanding Horizons

With an ambitious vision for growth, Poni Group has set its sights on doubling its assets, workforce, and service capabilities by 2025. Expansion plans include new branches in Indonesia, Malaysia, and Singapore. As part of this effort, the company is preparing for the official launch of Poni Group Sdn Bhd and Poni Marine, with Poni Adventures and Poni Foundation set to follow in late 2021. Currently employing 40 staff members, Poni Group is poised to scale its operations while maintaining its reputation for personalized customer service and seamless, end-to-end project solutions.

By implementing ISO9001 initiatives, the company anticipates doubling its annual revenue, increasing its workforce by 20%, and boosting both customer and staff satisfaction metrics by 30% in the next 6 to 12 months.

A Commitment to Community and Sustainability

Beyond business, Poni Group is deeply committed to giving back. The Poni Foundation, its non-profit arm, focuses on marine conservation, local empowerment, and civic engagement. Through school outreach, training, internships, and education programs, the Foundation aims to elevate Brunei’s presence on the global stage. Disaster relief efforts in the region will also be a core initiative.

Adventure as a Way of Life

Since 2008, Poni has been a pioneer in adventure activities by the sea, introducing over 38,000 people—both locals and international visitors—to outdoor experiences that extend beyond leisure and into career-building opportunities. With its strong foundation, the brand continues to create lasting impact by making adventure an integral part of everyday life.

Poni Group’s success has not gone unnoticed. It has received accolades such as Best Maritime Activities Company 2021 (APAC Insider), ASEAN SMEs Excellence – Growth (ASEAN Business Awards 2020), and Best Watersports & Adventure Tours Agency 2021 – Brunei (LUX Life Magazine).

At its core, Poni Group thrives on its ability to unify different touchpoints into a cohesive, integrated experience. By leveraging internal economies of scale, the company delivers well-rounded leisure experiences that redefine adventure across multiple industries.
