More about

Polyplex (Thailand) Public Company

Polyplex (Thailand) Public Company Limited (PTL) was established in 2002 as a subsidiary of Polyplex Corporation Limited, India. Listed on the Thailand Stock Exchange, PTL serves the Asia Pacific market with a workforce of over 700 employees across manufacturing, sales, and corporate operations. To enhance its market reach, PTL maintains liaison offices in Korea and Japan, along with sales representatives in key markets.

As part of the Polyplex Group, PTL contributes to the company’s position as the sixth-largest global integrated manufacturer of polyester (PET) film. The group operates manufacturing facilities in India, Thailand, Turkey, the USA, and Indonesia, with warehouses in Europe and North America. PTL’s manufacturing facility is strategically located in the Siam Eastern Industrial Park in Rayong, near the deep-sea port of Laem Chabang in the Gulf of Thailand.

Commitment to Sustainability and Circular Economy

PTL aims to provide total packaging substrate solutions while prioritizing sustainability, employee health and safety, and environmental responsibility. Recognizing the global concerns surrounding single-use plastics, PTL focuses on flexible packaging, which offers sustainability advantages over traditional packaging due to its functionality. However, recyclability remains a challenge due to inefficient collection mechanisms for post-consumer waste.

To address this issue, PTL established a subsidiary, Ecoblue Limited, in 2013 to develop sustainable products with higher recycled content. Ecoblue specializes in recycling both post-industrial and post-consumer film-based waste, marking PTL’s initial step toward green initiatives. The company is now constructing a state-of-the-art recycling facility to support high-end applications in PET bottles and polyester filament yarn, helping brands meet their sustainability targets.

PTL has also invested in chemical recycling, converting post-consumer PET bottle waste into food-grade resin, which is then incorporated into PET films. Some Polyplex products contain up to 90% post-consumer recycled (PCR) content. With ongoing expansion of chemical recycling capacities in Turkey and Thailand, Polyplex is making significant strides toward achieving circularity in packaging.

Sustainable Operations and CO2 Reduction Initiatives

PTL continuously seeks to improve its environmental footprint through energy optimization, resource efficiency, waste management, emissions reduction, and employee awareness programs. The company has undertaken several projects aimed at reducing its CO2 footprint, including the development of high-barrier PE that has successfully replaced three-layer laminate structures with two-layer structures in shampoo and detergent packaging, leading to both material reduction and lower emissions.

With a strong commitment to sustainability, PTL invests in energy-efficient technologies, sustainable sourcing solutions, and local procurement to minimize carbon emissions. The company’s leadership in the PET film industry positions it to drive meaningful change, influencing the industry’s shift toward more sustainable practices.
