Metro Pacific Iloilo Water (MPIW), established on July 1, 2019, is a transformative joint venture between Metro Pacific Water and the Metro Iloilo Water District. Operating in Iloilo City and seven surrounding towns in the Philippines, MPIW goes beyond water distribution—integrating sustainability into its core operations to balance environmental stewardship with social responsibility.

Innovating for Water Security
A key pillar of MPIW’s sustainability strategy is reducing Non-Revenue Water (NRW), caused by leaks and aging infrastructure. Leveraging Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Sahara Mobile Leak Detection, and real-time pressure and flow control systems, MPIW ensures efficient water management. Advanced solutions like pressure management systems and the Tyfo Fiberwrap Pipe Rehabilitation System enhance infrastructure integrity, minimizing water loss and securing long-term supply reliability.
Empowering Communities Through TaTAP Ilonggo
MPIW’s community impact is anchored in the TaTAP Ilonggo program—named after the Hiligaynon word “TaTAP,” meaning “to care.” Through initiatives in health, education, and environmental conservation, MPIW supports local livelihoods and strengthens economic resilience. The Training-2-Employment (T2E) program, in collaboration with TESDA, provides technical training and employment opportunities, empowering marginalized communities to build sustainable careers in the water sector.
Championing Environmental Conservation
MPIW actively rehabilitates the Tigum-Aganan watershed through the CommuniTree program, engaging local communities in tree-planting efforts. Supporting the National Greening Program, MPIW aims to plant one million trees annually, improving water quality, reducing runoff, and fostering long-term ecological sustainability.
Health and Disaster Resilience
Recognizing the link between water access and public health, MPIW installs permanent multi-faucet handwashing stations in schools and communities while distributing hygiene kits to encourage better sanitation practices. Through its Help-to-Others (H2O) program, MPIW provides clean drinking water and emergency relief to disaster-affected areas, ensuring immediate aid reaches those in need.
Collaborative Governance and Adaptive Strategies
Managing Iloilo’s regional water infrastructure comes with challenges, from fluctuating water demands to regulatory complexities. MPIW addresses these through Hinun-anon sa Barangay participatory sessions, fostering transparent dialogue and ensuring that water solutions align with community needs. Regular feedback loops enable continuous improvement, strengthening MPIW’s role as a trusted water steward.
Advancing Sustainability for the Future
Aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), MPIW is committed to expanding safe water access, protecting resources, and promoting environmental resilience. By 2026, the company plans to transition to renewable energy, starting with the clean-energy-powered operation of its desalination plant. Circular economy initiatives, including waste-to-energy projects, further underscore MPIW’s commitment to sustainability.
With its integrated approach, MPIW is redefining the role of local utilities—leveraging innovation, fostering community partnerships, and driving sustainable development. By securing water access today, Metro Pacific Iloilo Water is building a more resilient and empowered future for Ilonggo communities.
