PT Indosat Tbk, operating under the Indosat Ooredoo brand, has been a key player in Indonesia’s telecommunications industry since its establishment on 10 November 1967. More than just a provider of telecommunication and digital services, Indosat Ooredoo is deeply committed to creating shared value—delivering economic, environmental, and social benefits to its stakeholders.
This commitment is reflected in the company’s vision, mission, corporate values, Code of Ethics, and Code of Conduct. Indosat Ooredoo’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs), focusing on six key areas: quality education, industry, innovation, and infrastructure, good health and well-being, gender equality, decent work and economic growth, and sustainable cities and communities.

Strategic CSR Leadership
Indosat Ooredoo’s CSR Department is embedded within Group Corporate Communications, reporting directly to the President Director & Chief Executive Officer (PD & CEO). The Senior Vice President – Head of Corporate Communications holds regular strategy meetings with the Board of Directors (BOD) to track progress and set new sustainability goals. The company employs multiple evaluation methods, including pre and post-programme surveys, Social Return on Investment (SROI) calculations, and Corporate Index Surveys.
Driving Digital Education and Innovation
One of Indosat Ooredoo’s flagship initiatives is the Indosat Ooredoo Digital Camp (IDCamp), launched in 2019 to provide scholarships for certified online coding training. So far, IDCamp has benefited 33,414 young Indonesian developers, including persons with disabilities, equipping them with in-demand skills to compete in the digital economy.
As Indonesia embraces the digital era, Indosat Ooredoo is dedicated to nurturing local talent, ensuring that Indonesians seize emerging opportunities. IDCamp is free and inclusive, helping bridge the gap between the demand and supply of skilled digital professionals. This program supports Indonesia’s vision of becoming a Digital Nation and aligns with the government’s push to establish Indonesia as a digital powerhouse.
Empowering Communities Through Digital Technology
Beyond education, Indosat Ooredoo has multiple community development initiatives. INSPERA (Indonesian Women’s Inspiration) focuses on economic empowerment and digital literacy programs for women. The Mobile Health Clinic brings essential healthcare services to underserved communities. The Disaster Emergency Response initiative provides aid and support to victims of natural disasters, while the company’s philanthropy initiatives offer free communication services and direct donations for those in need.
Employee-Driven Social Impact
Indosat Ooredoo encourages employees to actively engage with their communities through its Employee Volunteer Programme (EVP). One such initiative is #BijakBersosmed, a nationwide campaign to promote responsible digital behavior among high school students, supported by Indonesia’s Ministry of Communication and Informatics. In 2019, 208 employees from 27 cities participated, benefiting 10,848 students and teachers.
Another EVP initiative, the Community Assistance Program, involves employees collaborating with local communities to clean the environment and improve public infrastructure. The Ramadhan Donation Program provides educational support to children from orphanages during the holy month of Ramadhan.
A Commitment to Lasting Impact
Indosat Ooredoo’s sustainability approach goes beyond traditional CSR—it is an integral part of the company’s DNA, with top executives held accountable for delivering real impact.
Shanggari Balakrishnan, CEO of MORS Group, affirms : As a communications company, Indosat Ooredoo has done an exemplary job of communicating its desire to be a proactive professional citizen by engaging with the communities it does business in.
By embedding sustainability into its core business strategy, Indosat Ooredoo not only strengthens its role as a telecommunications leader but also enriches Indonesian communities and the nation’s digital future.
