GHL Systems Berhad deploys products and services to merchants of all sizes across the ASEAN region, spanning various industries. Over the years, GHL has built a strong reputation for revolutionizing the payment industry by driving the shift toward digital transactions. Its diverse payment solutions include payment acceptance devices, internet payment services, payment network solutions, loyalty and prepaid e-wallet solutions, card payment services, and next-generation payment services.

Regional Growth and Localization Efforts

Established in Malaysia in 1994, GHL has grown into a 25-year-old company with over 1,000 employees operating across Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia, Cambodia, and Australia. This expansion brings localization challenges, which GHL addresses by establishing local units in each country to represent the business and maintain strong relationships with local partners and merchants.

GHL processes over RM1 billion in transaction value per month, a significant leap from the RM6.8 million processed in 2016. The company is accredited by organizations such as VISA, MasterCard, JCB, MEPS, SIRIM, and the Line Encryption Working Group, serving industries including banking and finance, oil and gas, retail, F&B, and telecommunications.

Investing in Talent Development

With a regional human capital turnover rate of just 24 percent, GHL prioritizes career growth and employee development. The company has implemented specialized initiatives and development plans to support high-potential employees. The HIPO (High Potential) Programme identifies and nurtures future leaders to meet the Group’s evolving needs. Additionally, GHL’s learning and development initiatives enhance employees’ technical knowledge, professional skills, and leadership abilities. In 2018, 117 employees participated in 357 hours of training.

This year, GHL is launching the GHL Payment School, designed for the public, merchants, and GHL employees to deepen their understanding of the payment industry.

Commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility

GHL ensures that each of its regional offices supports local non-profit organizations. In Malaysia, the company organized a blood donation drive in response to the national blood bank’s urgent appeal. The GHL Thailand team contributed to Wat Sawetsilaram School in Ayutthaya province by cleaning the school and donating supplies, while GHL Philippines provided hard hats and school chairs to Silahis ng Katarungan (SIKAT) Elementary School in compliance with the Department of Education’s emergency preparedness requirements.

Encouraging Cashless Adoption Among SMEs

Despite growing transaction volumes, cashless adoption in ASEAN remains low, with many SMEs yet to embrace digital payments. To address this challenge, GHL is actively educating SMEs on the importance of going cashless in today’s business landscape. The company also works on building trust in payment solution providers, ensuring that businesses feel confident in adopting digital transactions.
