More about

Flexo Manufacturing

Established in 1955 in Caloocan City, Metro Manila, Philippines, Flexo Manufacturing Corporation has built a strong reputation as a leading provider of innovative and high-quality packaging solutions. With over 68 years of expertise, Flexo has become an indispensable partner for FMCG companies, catering to their packaging needs with precision and ingenuity.

Operating across three plant locations, Flexo has secured its position as the leading supplier of flexible packaging for Procter & Gamble and Unilever. The company is also the exclusive provider of Suntory Ribena juice products in cheerpack packaging, exporting to Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, China, Australia, and New Zealand. Additionally, it is the largest local supplier of pharmaceutical laminates packaging for brands like Centrum, Caltrate, and Stresstabs, alongside partnerships with Interphil Laboratories, Pascual Laboratories, Hizon Laboratories, United Laboratories, and Taisho Pharmaceuticals.

Commitment to Sustainability

In 2018, Flexo launched its Sustainability Vision, aiming to provide Approved and Certified Compostable Packaging by 2023, aligning with the sustainability goals of its customers. The company reinforced this commitment through its official sustainability campaign, “Go Green, Go Good – Planting for a Sustainable Future,” which is integrated into all Design and Product Development processes.

Breakthrough in Compostable Packaging

In March 2023, Flexo achieved a major milestone by receiving TÜV Austria Certification for Compostaflex, the Philippines’ first bio-material flexible packaging certified for both industrial and home composting environments.

Global Recognition for Sustainable Innovations

Flexo’s research and development team has been internationally recognized by the Regional R&D Headquarters of Procter & Gamble in Belgium and Unilever in Vietnam for its sustainable packaging innovations. Among its compostable packaging developments are detergent sachets that passed machineability and transportation tests, soap bar sachets that met customer machineability requirements, and export hair care sachets that successfully underwent customer validation trials. For recyclable packaging, Flexo is the only local flexible packaging partner selected by the Regional Unilever R&D Team to conduct trial validations for hair care and oral care product applications using MDOPE/VMPE structures.

Sustainability Roadmap and Governance

Flexo’s Sustainability Goals focus on three key areas: sustainable packaging development, corporate sustainability initiatives, and social and environmental programs. To drive its initiatives, the company has established a Sustainability & Environmental Policy and formed a Sustainability Champions Team, led by the Chief Sustainability Officer, who is also the Chief Product Technology Officer. The team actively monitors economic, environmental, and social impacts of the company’s sustainability goals. Progress reports from monthly Sustainability Champion Meetings are presented to the President, Chairman, and Board of Directors biannually.

Fostering a Culture of Sustainability

Beyond its products, Flexo is committed to embedding sustainability into its company culture. Employees are actively encouraged to align with sustainability values through various internal programs, including Flexo’s Heart for Earth, Think Outside the Trash, and the Christmas Scrap Art Making Contest. These programs include awards and incentives for employees, reinforcing engagement with sustainability initiatives. Additionally, sustainability performance metrics are integrated into annual performance appraisals, with incentives tied to achieving sustainability targets.

Future Sustainability Initiatives

Looking ahead, Flexo is set to publish and distribute its first official Annual Sustainability Report to stakeholders by February 2024. The company also aims to measure and benchmark the carbon footprint of its products against industry standards. More sustainability-driven initiatives are planned, including expanded corporate social responsibility programs and internal sustainability projects.

A Sustainable Future with Flexo

With a strong foundation in research, innovation, and corporate responsibility, Flexo continues to drive sustainability efforts while maintaining its leadership in flexible packaging solutions. As it expands its eco-friendly product range and social impact initiatives, the company remains committed to creating a greener and more responsible future for the packaging industry.
