Digi Telecommunications Sdn Bhd (Digi) was established in Malaysia in 1995 and provides mobile voice, internet, and digital services to 11.8 million customers. Listed on Bursa Malaysia, Digi is part of the global telecommunications provider Telenor Group and is recognized for its progressive and responsible business practices. In 2014, the company reported a profit of RM2 billion.

Commitment to Internet for All

Digi’s mission is to deliver ‘Internet for All’ by building a connected Malaysia. The company focuses on expanding mobile internet access, enhancing telecom infrastructure, and simplifying smartphone ownership to empower more Malaysians through connectivity.

Digi integrates sustainability into its operations through policies on sourcing, supply chain management, employee engagement, and environmental responsibility. These efforts ensure that mobile connectivity benefits all Malaysians while promoting responsible business practices.

Empower Societies: Digi’s CSR Initiatives

Digi’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives are driven by its “Empower Societies” programme. By partnering with stakeholders, Digi leverages its technology to reach underserved communities and bridge the digital divide. The success of these initiatives is measured by the level of connectivity achieved.

Digi runs seven corporate programmes under Empower Societies, each targeting different groups such as youth, children, women, underserved communities, and digital users, with the common goal of building strong digital communities.

Flagship Programmes

CyberSafe in Schools fosters responsible digital citizenship by educating Malaysian school children on internet safety. To date, 80,000 students, 5,000 school teachers, and 1,000 Bestari ICT teachers have benefited. The programme is supported by research on children’s online behavior and cyber risks, with an interactive online portal enhancing the learning experience.

Digi Challenge for Change harnesses the power of the internet to drive social impact. Now in its sixth year, this competition collaborates with social changemakers to develop internet-enabled solutions that create sustainable and inclusive socio-economic benefits.

Kg Internet For All (IFA) promotes connectivity and smart device ownership in rural and remote communities. Digi has launched Kg IFA in Kemaman, Terengganu, and Tumpat, Kelantan, to bring digital access to these areas.

WWWoW Internet For All Awards celebrates Malaysians who use the internet for social good, fostering creativity and entrepreneurship online.

Internet for All Women is a new initiative aimed at inspiring and empowering women through digital inclusion.

Telenor Youth Forum (TYF) and Digital Winners provide global exposure for young Malaysians and technopreneurs, connecting them with leaders and innovators in digital technology, media, and communications.
