Solar Cell for Life: Bringing Light to Rural Areas
C.P. LAND’s “Solar Cell for Life” project addresses the lack of public lighting in rural Thailand, where inadequate illumination poses safety risks and limits economic activity. By installing solar-powered streetlights in areas with limited electrification, the initiative improves road safety and enhances the overall quality of life.
Kiriwong Village: A Model for Sustainable Infrastructure
Kiriwong Village in Nakhon Si Thammarat, known for its agriculture and tourism, was the first location for the “Solar Cell for Life” project. Poorly lit roads had hindered local development, making transportation difficult. C.P. LAND’s installation of solar-powered streetlights has significantly improved mobility and safety.
Collaborative Efforts for Community Impact
The project was made possible through partnerships with local authorities, businesses, and community members. Organizations like PCS Security and Facility Services, Yullong Home Expert, and Sanyo SMI - Thailand contributed expertise, materials, and manpower, showcasing the power of business-private collaboration.
First Phase: Immediate Benefits for the Community
In its first phase, the project introduced 80 solar-powered streetlights with 24.7-watt LED lamps, illuminating five kilometers of roads. This development improved transportation for agricultural goods, boosted local tourism, and enhanced economic activity, proving how sustainable infrastructure drives growth.
Advancing Carbon Neutrality Goals
The “Solar Cell for Life” project supports C.P. LAND’s goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2030 and net-zero emissions by 2050. By replacing traditional lighting with solar power, the initiative reduces CO₂ emissions while addressing infrastructure challenges, reinforcing the company’s commitment to climate action.
Sustainability Beyond Lighting Projects
Beyond solar energy, C.P. LAND integrates green technologies across its real estate developments. The company prioritizes energy-efficient designs, flood-resilient construction, and green spaces that exceed national requirements, promoting biodiversity and enhancing residents’ well-being.
Future Plans for Expanding Sustainability Initiatives
C.P. LAND aims to expand the “Solar Cell for Life” project to more rural communities, bridging infrastructure gaps with renewable energy. The company also plans to implement advanced green technologies in its developments, reinforcing its vision of creating resilient, sustainable communities across Thailand.
