More about

ASUSTeK Computer

Astutely aware.

Established in 1989 and headquartered in Beitou District, Taipei, Taiwan, ASUSTeK Computer Inc. (ASUS) is a multinational company known for the world’s best motherboards and high-quality personal computers, monitors, graphics cards, routers and other technology solutions.

In 2009, the company established a dedicated unit for sustainable development in answer to the global trends of sustainable development, and to analyze sustainability issues such as governance, environment, and society, and integrating business core, product innovation, and service to promote and formulate sustainability strategies. ASUS also established the GreenASUS & SERASUS Steering Committee, which is authorized by the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to be the management representative. The members of the Committee come from the business operation unit, procurement department, customer service, administration, legal and other departments.

As a leading consumer electronics company, ASUS supports the development directions of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and regards them as an opportunity for sustainable transformation for enterprises. The ASUS 2020 Sustainability Goals were formulated based on ASUS’ core competencies in response to the SDGs, setting strategies and actions to implement the targets with which ASUS may have the greatest contributions.

ASUS sees the circular economy as the key to sustainable operations and a chance to leave a sustainable future for the next generation. The company has evolved from a policy of passive pollution prevention to taking active, preemptive measures with the goal of further detaching economic growth from carbon emissions that result from resource consumption. In line with ASUS’ responsible practices in sustainable procurement, it promotes sustainable procurement projects which involve a wide range of relevant units, including procurement, outsourcing management, human resources, and legal affairs within the organization; and suppliers outside the organization. In 2019, ASUS obtained the world's first ISO 20400:2017 sustainable procurement certificate, which proves that ASUS has incorporated sustainable management principles into procurement policies and practices.

ASUS Foundation was formed in 2008 with the aim to bridge the digital divide. Since then, it has been establishing digital learning centres globally, and resolving local digital divide issues in cooperation with non-profit organizations, volunteer groups, and government agencies. The ASUS Foundation has been continuously promoting its Refurbished Computer and Digital Training Programme since 2008. In Taiwan - the location of ASUS’ headquarters - and primary markets including Europe, North America, China, and India, it works with recyclers qualified by local governments or those who comply with international electronics recycling standards such as Responsible Recycling (R2) or e-Stewards Standards to set up free product recycling services and recycling sites.

Within ASUS, its people are highly encouraged to actively participate in social services. The ASUS Volunteer Club was established to encourage ASUS employees to participate in domestic and overseas services, share their knowledge and experience, and cultivate new scientific and technological talents. ASUS supports hundreds of employee volunteers each year, as they participate in philanthropic initiatives in countries such as Indonesia, India, Thailand, Philippines, Vietnam, Cambodia, and Tanzania. Assistance is based on local needs, and volunteers provide support in various ways, including teaching basic computer software skills, hosting cultural exchange activities, and tutoring students across a range of subjects.

On top of concrete actions and participation in various social events, ASUS also has an annual budget for the sponsorship of various charity organizations. Moreover, its employees take the initiative to organize fundraising events and collect donations. In addition to the charity fundraising platform, ASUS also provides a materials collection platform, where employees are encouraged to donate any new or old items which will then be sold for charity or donated.
