Green power electric exercise bikes and a solar-powered lighting system were installed on the flat roof of its mall, advocating a green culture among the general public.
Green Operations
Operationally, Fortune REIT takes steps to minimise its carbon footprint. It adjusts air-conditioning usage according to outdoor temperature changes in order to reduce carbon emissions. It conducts regular garden inspections and prunes more than 250 trees on the premises. It beautifies the mall with flowers during festivals for a lively atmosphere. Food waste collected from tenants is turned into fertiliser for enriching the mall’s landscape. Containers for separate collection of paper, plastic bottles and aluminum cans for recycling are placed inside its malls. It rolled out a comprehensive indoor air quality control policy in all 17 Fortune malls, focusing on providing a constant supply of fresh air by regular cleaning and inspection of the ventilation system as well as protecting it against outdoor pollution.
Implementing its green programmes doesn’t just help to protect the environment. It also enables the company to lower costs and, in turn, improves business performance. Fortune Malls’ energy consumption has been lowered through green initiatives, resulting in a 15 percent reduction in utility expenses, a reduction in energy consumption and emissions of more than two percent, and collection of 300 litres of rainwater.
