A.T. Biopower Company Ltd. (ATB) was established on 23 March 1999 to develop and operate a sustainable electricity-generating business. Located in Phichit province, Thailand, ATB operates a 23 MW biomass power plant that generates electricity using rice husk, a byproduct of local farming and milling. By repurposing this waste material as fuel, ATB reduces harmful emissions and supports Thailand’s transition to renewable energy, exporting 20 MW of electricity to the national grid under a long-term Power Purchase Agreement with the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT).

Sustainability at the Core of Operations
Since its inception, ATB has embedded sustainability into every aspect of its operations, long before it became a global corporate priority. The company’s business model is built on accountability, transparency, and stakeholder engagement, aligning with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to drive positive environmental, social, and economic impact. ATB actively listens to its stakeholders, including employees, local communities, and government sectors, ensuring its initiatives meet the evolving needs of the region it serves.
Community Investment and Economic Empowerment
ATB’s sustainability efforts extend beyond energy production to community development. The company’s Community Fund, established under its Environmental Impact Assessment commitments, provides financial resources for local projects that enhance quality of life. In addition to infrastructure, education, and healthcare investments, ATB’s use of rice husk as a fuel source generates economic benefits for local farmers and rice mills. By offering a sustainable revenue stream, ATB fosters economic empowerment in some of Thailand’s most impoverished areas while promoting environmentally friendly farming practices.
Employee Engagement and Skill Development
ATB prioritizes employee development, offering ongoing training in technical skills and sustainability practices. This investment has cultivated a highly skilled workforce that shares the company’s mission. Employees are also encouraged to participate in community initiatives, volunteering their time to support local development projects. Through these efforts, ATB fosters a culture of equality, opportunity, and active community engagement.
Commitment to Environmental and Social Governance
ATB’s sustainability framework is guided by clear policies that emphasize environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles. The company maintains strict oversight of its operations, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and internal sustainability standards. Regular reviews and continuous improvement initiatives keep ATB at the forefront of sustainable energy production while maximizing benefits for the community.
Driving a Sustainable Future
As ATB looks to the future, it remains dedicated to integrating sustainability into its core business operations. Recognizing its critical role in the community, the company continues to uphold its commitments to environmental stewardship, economic empowerment, and social responsibility. Through its ongoing initiatives, ATB sets a benchmark for responsible business practices in the energy sector, demonstrating that sustainable energy solutions can drive both environmental and economic progress.
