“Leading IT Innovators”
Pointwest’s Inspirational Journey from Pioneering Origins to Tech Transformers.
Pointwest Technologies Corporation (“Pointwest”), established in 2003, is a global leader in information technology and business process management (“IT-BPM”) services. Founded by pioneers of the Philippine outsourcing industry, the company has become a prominent IT-BPM professional services provider. With headquarters in Manila, Pointwest has extended its reach to the United States (Pointwest US) and Singapore (Pointwest Global Pte. Ltd.), with project presence in locations like Minnesota, Atlanta, Los Angeles, New Zealand, and Australia.
Initially, Pointwest focused on traditional IT-BPM services, encompassing enterprise application development, application management, independent software testing, and healthcare business processing outsourcing. However, the company has undergone a significant transformation in recent years, realigning its services with digital solutions and capabilities through strategic alliances with digital technology vendors.
Today, Pointwest specializes in two key areas of digital transformation: application modernization and digital automation. Its application modernization services include omni-channel development (covering web, mobile, and kiosk applications), microservices and API integration, cybersecurity solutions, development in the cloud, and cloud migration. Simultaneously, its digital automation services cover test automation, robotic process automation (RPA), intelligent automation using big data and AI/ML, and workflow automation.
Pointwest’s impactful projects showcase its dedication to innovation. From 2017 to 2020, it developed a prepaid card payment system for a leading Philippine credit card issuer. This comprehensive solution integrated card vending, introduced mobile-based Know Your Customer (KYC) registration, and enabled card usage for online and mobile services. In 2007, it modernized a remittance platform for a major local bank, ensuring real-time processing, Anti-Money Laundering Act (“AMLA”) monitoring, and more. From 2007 to 2020, Pointwest migrated an ATM consortium’s application server, creating an eGovernment Corporate Payments platform for taxes, Social Security System (SSS) contributions, and loans in the Philippines. It provides ongoing maintenance. In addition, Pointwest’s work involved AMLA monitoring, partner configuration, and fees and rates management. Finally, from 2014 to 2018, it developed a mobile app for a major Philippine bank, enabling users to access exclusive deals, apply for credit cards, and share offers via social media. This project showcased Pointwest’s commitment to mobile technology innovation and set it apart in the industry.
Pointwest’s impressive track record comprises projects that exemplify the company’s commitment to technological innovation and transformative approaches. Notably, it received the title of “Best Mid-Sized Locally Owned BPO Company of the Year” from the International ICT Awards in 2008. Additionally, it was recognized as the “Most Progressive Homegrown IT Service Company” by the E-Services Awards in the same year. The company’s impact has been further acknowledged with awards such as the Best Filipino-owned Company of the Year at the International ICT Awards Philippines, the Most Innovative Company award at the ASEAN Business Awards, and being recognized among the 50 Leading Companies for Women in APEC. In 2021, Pointwest Technologies Corporation was honored with the title of Most Innovative IT Solutions Provider Philippines 2021 by The Global Economics. It also received the Excellence Award for Export Services in the IT Services – Software Development category at the National Export Congress.
Pointwest places significant emphasis on nurturing its employees. With a workforce of around 500 individuals, the company offers comprehensive enablement and training programs that encompass technical skills, soft skills, behavioral acculturation, and leadership development. Its leadership development programs, focusing on Business Acumen, Intellectual Horsepower, Leadership by Example, People Development, and Drive for Excellence, ensure a sustainable pipeline of leadership talent.
Beyond internal initiatives, Pointwest engages in corporate social responsibility activities with a focus on education and innovation. It collaborates with foundations, schools, and universities to empower fellow Filipinos through education. Partnerships with universities for faculty development and student career counseling underscore its commitment to community and education.
“Eastern Communications’ talent development and career advancement programmes are put in place to determine talents who are ready for next level, leadership roles or critical roles. The organization conducts a Talent Assessment, which determines readiness; and identifies development programs that the incumbent will need to achieve and be successful in the target position.”
