“Empowering Achievement“
In the 27 years that Microsoft has been operating in Vietnam, the American global tech company has been working with the public and private sectors to develop and implement their digital transformation strategies, and contributing to the country’s digital economic growth.
Microsoft is a multinational technology company that develops, manufactures, licenses, supports, and sells computer software, personal computers, and related services. Its best-known software products are the Windows line of operating systems, the Microsoft Office suite, Internet Explorer and Edge web browsers. It also offers AI and cloud computing such as Copilot, Azure, Microsoft 365, OneDrive, and video game consoles such as Xbox and touchscreen devices like Surface.
Back in 1996, Microsoft was one of the first American Global Tech companies to open an office in Vietnam. The main office is in Hanoi and there is a branch office in Ho Chi Minh City. In Vietnam, Microsoft focuses on four main business areas: Modern Workplace; Business Applications; Infrastructure; and Data & AI.
Placing Power in the Hands of People
Microsoft believes technology can and should be a force for good and that innovation can improve the world and the lives of people everywhere. The company provides digital access and puts tools in the hands of everyone — because the root of great innovation is never just in technology itself, but in what people can achieve when leveraging them.
Microsoft’s mission is “To empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more”. Today, Microsoft is investing over $16 billion a year in research and product development, specifically in innovations that are inclusive, meaningful, bold, responsible, grounded in trust, and applied and scalable.
Winning Edge
To achieve all this, Microsoft’s winning edge lies in their: Brand Equity: Microsoft is a household name and Microsoft’s co-founder Bill Gates is also widely respected as a visionary and philanthropist; Diversified Product Portfolio: Microsoft’s products and services spans segments and markets with Windows, Office, Azure, LinkedIn, Xbox, Surface, Github, Bing and Copilot; Market Outreach: Microsoft operates in over 190 countries and Microsoft’s Windows operating system is installed on over 700 million devices worldwide; and Environmental Policies and Philanthropy Activities: Microsoft has pledged to become carbon negative by 2030 and remove all its historical emissions by 2050. Microsoft also supports various causes and initiatives through its philanthropy arm, such as education, health, and disaster relief.
