Bharti Airtel Limited (Airtel} is a leading global telecommunications company with operations in 20 countries across Asia and Africa. The company ranks amongst the top three mobile service providers globally in terms of subscribers.

The company partners with the government’s initiative and various NGOs to empower disadvantaged communities through need-based intervention in the realm of education, employment generation, sanitation, healthcare, disaster management and environment protection, among others.

Simplifying Transactions – Bharti Airtel brought India’s first mobile wallet service called Airtel Money, to make easy transactions. It is an alternative to other payment options, including cash.
Airtel mEducation is a unique platform that enables Airtel users to access a host of education courses at one go. mEducation assists students with their entrance exams through SMS and WAP. It also provides career and job preparation-centric products like ‘Ask an Expert’. In its goal to enhance farmer wellbeing, Airtel aims to empower farmers and encourage Indian agriculture and the rural economy through IFFCO Kisan Sanchar Limited (IKSL} which provides farmers with significant information through mobile and enables them to make more informed decisions pertaining to agricultural activities. This initiative benefited over 18 Lakh farmers across India.

Launched in 2006, the Satya Bharti School Programme initiated by Bharti Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Bharti Enterprises, is one of the largest end-to-end rural education initiatives undertaken by a corporate in India. This programme supports the pursuit of excellence and aims to set benchmarks for quality education across the country. The programme provides free, quality education to underprivileged children, with a special focus on the girl child, in the deepest rural pockets of the country.

Through the Bharti Foundation, the company recruits school staff from neighbouring areas, recruits local youth to be trained as teachers, updates and enhances teachers’ skills, and ensures service providers, such as meal vendors, are selected from community members.
Over the years, in addition to primary education Airtel has been closely working with Bharti Foundation to support several projects across the country, including sponsoring the higher education through, the Bharti School of Telecommunication Technology and Management, IIT Delhi, and the Bharti Centre for Communication, IIT Bombay, with the objective of creating tomorrow’s telecom leaders. It also sponsors the Bharti Institute of Public Policy at the Indian School of Business (ISB}, Mohali, to promote quality research and full-time courses in the area of Public Policy.

Airtel follows a strategic approach to responsible business activities through regular engagement with its stakeholders (internal and external} to confirm issues of importance.
