Accenture takes home leadership and sustainability awards in Asia

Professional services firm Accenture has taken home two Asia Corporate Excellence and Sustainability awards for its Philippines practice.

Global professional services powerhouse Accenture – which recently posted revenues of $43.2 billion for its 2019 fiscal year – has been acknowledged with two Asia Corporate Excellence and Sustainability awards at a ceremony in Bangkok; named Best Workplace of the Year and Industry Champion for its Philippines practice. The awards follow a global nod on the latest Refinitiv Index as the number one company for workplace diversity and inclusion.

Established in 2014 by leadership & sustainability research and education organisation the Mors Group, the Asia Corporate Excellence & Sustainability Awards (ACES) honours companies and individuals in Asia across a variety of leadership and corporate social responsibility categories. This year, Accenture in the Philippines was named as Asia’s Best Workplace of the Year in the sustainability bracket, while also being recoginsed for leadership as a 2019 Industry Champion.

“We are honored to be recognised in Asia for our best practices that reaffirm our commitment to build diverse talent and drive innovation to fuel growth in the digital age,” said Lito Tayag, country managing director of Accenture in the Philippines, with local human resources lead Ira Reyes adding; “We are committed at creating a more inclusive, diverse and equitable workplace where our employees feel they belong and are empowered to be the best that they can be every day.”

For the ACES sustainability awards, companies were assessed by an independent judging panel on the criteria of ethical compliance, leadership values, community empowerment, products and innovation, and diversity & inclusion – the latter area in which Accenture has also recently been determined as the world’s number one publically-listed firm on the latest global index released by Refinitiv, which takes in the environmental, social and governance data of more than 7,000 companies.

“Building a culture of equality where everyone can thrive is key to who we are as a company,” said Accenture CEO Julie Sweet, who recently took over the helm. “We value each other’s unique backgrounds, skills and experience and hold ourselves accountable for progress against bold goals. Embracing inclusion and diversity is one of the things that makes Accenture so special, and we are honored that Refinitiv has once again recognised our commitment.”

It’s the second consecutive year that Accenture has featured at the top of the list, and its fourth inclusion overall. Objectively assessed in 24 metrics across four key pillars, factors Refinitiv took into account were the diversity among Accenture’s board of directors – which includes  members from four continents and five women (42%) – and the firm’s goal of achieving a gender-balanced workforce by 2025, with the figure currently standing at 44 percent women.

The Accenture Liquid Studio Manila serves as an incubation space for
new solutions to address real-world problems. In this space, Accenture
employees can experiment, invent and collaborate among themselves
or with clients to create solutions that really matter.

“We are pleased to recognise (Accenture) for its demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion across their organisation,” said Refinitiv’s chief revenue officer Debra Walton of the firm’s second year at the top. “We are proud that the D&I Index continues to serve as key driver for investors and analysts seeking to identify the companies that are getting this right, and helping them to make investment decisions that align with their values and the bottom line.”
