WORDS FROM THE JURY PANEL

LTP’s belief that a company which values its workforce as much as its customers is a company that will continue to excel and succeed, is just one of the reasons for its prominence at the ACES

about Lufthansa Technik Philippines Inc.

The real work-life balance.

LTP cares for aircraft and staff.

Lufthansa Technik Philippines (LTP) is the leading provider of Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) services in the Philippines. The company was established in 2000 as a joint venture of MacroAsia Corporation and Hamburg-based Lufthansa Technik AG. LTP currently employs 3,400 Filipinos across the key cities in the country, including Clark, Cebu, Davao, Kalibo and Puerto Princesa. Its main hub in Manila contains nine hangars, with its tenth hangar currently being built.

LTP provides base and line maintenance to various commercial aircrafts, such as the Airbus 320, A330, A350, A380, and Boeing B777. The MRO services pioneer services aircrafts of various airlines, including its national flag carrier, Philippine Airlines, and international lines like British Airways, Korean Air, Asiana Airlines, Saudi Arabian Airlines, and Air Asia.

Attaining a breakthrough number of 3,400-strong workforce – a combination of highly-skilled English-speaking mechanics, engineers, and support personnel, LTP has been a firm believer that a company which values its workforce as much as its customers is a company that will continue to excel and succeed. It has created a workplace that is more like a home to its growing family. It has successfully integrated personal and work life by maximizing the potential of each employee through a proactive management which generates a sustainable synergy in and out of the workplace.

While the demographics illustrate the majority of its employees to be 85 percent male, with 82.8 percent of its total workforce being mechanics, the presence of female mechanics has been lauded in this male-dominated aviation industry. Regardless of gender, LTP advocates for equal employment sans the conformity to traditional gender roles.

The Lufthansa Technik Philippines Employees Council (LTP-EC) is a proactive community of employees and management built upon mutual trust and cooperation, which shares values and a common purpose to develop the capabilities and uplift the quality of life of its members, thereby contributing to the company’s growth.

From November 2000 to March 2001, selected LTP employees, management appointees and representatives underwent trainings and discussions to formulate the creation of a Labor-Management Council, an organization where the employees and the management work hand-in-hand to accomplish certain goals using mutually acceptable means.

Both the management of the organization and the members of LTP-EC believe that this is one of their core strengths: a council that is hardworking and is in perfect partnership with the corporation’s management, thereby resulting in a workforce that is not just highly competent in their work, but also very satisfied and loyal.

As the organization continues to grow, the company is also directing its efforts to attracting, retaining, and keeping its employees motivated through total rewards practices. The company believes that the key to retaining employees is by making them feel valued – at all stages of their professional and personal lives.

Upon employment, LTP provides a competitive and comprehensive health care plan to the new members of the company. The healthcare plan also extends to the employee’s loved ones. The corporation also has an in-house clinic and pharmacy, and provides life insurance to its employees.

Aside from giving the government-mandated leave benefits, Lufthansa honors Regular and Special Holidays by giving additional vacation leave holidays for employees to celebrate their personal time. Travel discounts and benefits are offered on top of this.  LTP also supports personal upskilling by assisting in staff’s higher education plans, car and home dreams, and subsidies for the education of their child-dependents.

“LTP’s belief  that a company which values its workforce as much as its customers is a company that will continue to excel and succeed, is just one of the reasons for its prominence at the ACES”
